* ISDN ( INTEGRATED SERVICE DIGITAL NETWORK ) SERVICE
An ISDN customer can establish two simultaneous independant calls on existing pair of wires of the telephone lines
( Basic Rate ISDN ) where as only one call is possible at present on the analog line/telephone connections .
The two simultaneous calls in ISDN can be of any type like speech , data , image etc . Call setup time for
calls between two ISDN subsecribers is very short , of the order of 1 to 2 seconds . ISDN also supports a whole new set of additional
facilities called supplementary services such as CLIP , CLIR , AOC , MSN & Portability , CFB ,CFNR ,CFU , CH & CUG .
A Rent Free ISDN Connection will be given to any customers / firm who has two telephone lines in own
name and has an average monthly bill in excess of Rs.10,000 / - for the two lines taken together . For popularizing ISDN
, the rates have been considerably reduced . High speed Internet connection is also offered to ISDN customers .
* INTERNET ( SANCHARNET )
Internet access is available from all Exchanges of the Ernakulam SSA on local call
basis.Dial up Internet access on ISDN ( high speed ) is also introduced.

A leased circuit is a dedicated link provided between two fixed locations for exclusive use of
the customer.A leased circuit may be speech circuit , a data circuit , a telegraph circuit or
for Internet . Approval may be obtained in advance for specific use .MLLN ( network ) is planned . |

More than one local or long distance leased circuit cenverging on a location such that data from one
leased circuit can be transferred automatically to another leased circuit for the same subscriber . |

Leased circuits can be used by more than one legalentity if they form closed User Group . Prior permission of BSNL is required .

* IN SERVICES
IN stands for intelligent Network . Six services have been planned . These are Free Phone , Premium Rate ,
India Telephone Card , virtual Private Network , Universal number and Televoting. BSNL Ernakulam now offers the following
two services .

Any user in the telephone network can call the FPH subscriber free of charge . All the charges
are levied on the service subscriber (one who subscribed for the service and recieves the calls ) . . |

Internet Telephone Card is available in denominations of Rs.210/- and Rs.525/- .
This service allows a user to make calls to foreign countries through webphone at cheaper rates .

India Telephone Cards ( ITC ) |

ITC is available in denominations of Rs.105/- and Rs.210/- and Rs.525/- ( Higher denomination
on demand ) . This service allows a user to make a call from any telephone to any destination through intelligent
network . The call charges are debited to the user accounts and no charges are levied to the calling telephone
number . The advantage in this service is that the subscriber need not to be a telephone subscriber and need not carry
cash for making calls . These cards are available at Customer Service Centres , Bill payment counter , Telegraph
Offices , Telecom Centres , Commercial offices and through marketing agents all over the SSA . Sale of IT cards through
selected post offices is also being arranged .
The SSA has opened a large number of IN PCOs at various locations
such as Telephone Exchange premises , Telegraph and Telecom Offices and public places like Railway stations , Busstands ,
Hospitals etc . We are also on the look out for enterprising more agents for the sale of IT cards . |
